Abstract
The article provides the source analysis of the epistolary works describing the history of the everyday life of Tobolsk province residents of the second half of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century. Due to its geographical location the mentioned region served as a link between European and Asian Russia. It should be noted that there are only a small number of the publications of this period referring to Tobolsk province: remoteness and spaciousness of the region, severe climatic conditions and unsatisfactory transport infrastructure did not encourage scientific research of the province. In this context the author’s external vision of the citizens’ everyday life is a unique phenomenon.
