Abstract

This paper proposes a method to calculate the initial State-of-Charge (SOC) when Battery-Management-System (BMS) power is reset. The SOC estimation error of a Li-Ion battery is the sum of the initial SOC correction error and the SOC estimation error during charging and discharging. If the initial SOC correction can be calculated accurately, a more accurate SOC estimation is possible. Since the initial SOC operates sensitively to the previous state of the Li-Ion battery, it is necessary to check the previous state of the Li-Ion battery before performing the initial SOC calculation. If the previous state is known, the initial SOC can be calculated more accurately. In this paper, we propose an initial SOC correction method by estimating the state of the Li-Ion battery before.
