Abstract

Purpose: This study was conducted to identify Kyrgyzstan's demand for support for special education and integrated education and to seek the direction of future exchange and cooperation. Method: To this end, related concepts and current status were analyzed through written data, laws, and prior studies on special education and integrated education in Kyrgyzstan, and in-depth interviews with local experts were conducted. Results: First, in order to establish the concept of special education and integrated education, it is necessary to identify the actual discovery system and needs of children with disabilities in consideration of the individualized educational needs of students. Second, it is imperative to develop a model and provide human resources for a comprehensive approach to the provision of special education services. Third, it is necessary to improve the supply and status of personnel in charge of special education and integrated education. Fourth, it is necessary to share experiences between the two countries, including Korea's special education development process and challenges, and to find ways for long-term and partnership development. Conclusion: The discussion according to these research results, the direction of future support, and the direction of follow-up research were presented.
