Abstract

The term «monitoring» is actively used in various areas of human activity, including science, education, production, etc. However, in the field of physical culture and sports, the use of this term is not as extensive and systematized as in other industries. One of the aspects that impede the full use of monitoring in sports is associated with the lack of a theoretical base of this concept. The aim of the work was the justification and development of approaches to the structure and content of monitoring the sports training of high-class athletes in bicycle sports based on the study of the experience of monitoring in various fields of human activity. For the first time, a theoretical and methodological base has been developed for creating a practice-oriented methodology for monitoring sports training of athletes in cycling. The results are focused on their practical use by athletes, coaches and specialists of bicycle sports
