Abstract

This paper analyzes the studies of the Japanese Colonial Era in Korea published in 2018~2019, and points out several issues for future research.
First, in commemorating the 100th anniversary, capacity of modern history was concentrated on the study of the March First Movement. As a result, it can be evaluated that the March First Movement research has achieved great results both in terms of quantity and quality.
Second, research subjects are continuously expanding. However, the diversification of subjects did not lead to further research.
Third, research in the 1910s and 1940s was activated. A new trend of research has also emerged, and a connection with the periods before and after is being attempted. I look forward to the start of a new search for research development here.
I think what is needed is communication and debate. Through this, the Korean modern history academia will be able to take a step forward from the ’newness that has already been used.’
