Abstract
Identity is not only the most utilized category in the analysis of the contemporary society, but also a constantly changing characteristic of a personality, a social interaction. The identity reflects the state of the community, the aspects of value systems of an individual or a group which under the conditions of instability undergo constant changes and require assurance and security. That is why the identity is in the focus of researchers from different social sciences (sociology psychology, pedagogy, political studies, cultural studies). The article presents the analysis of the problem of identity based on the results of the surveys conducted in 2017 and 2020 in Kalmykia.
