Abstract

The article analyzes the assistance provided by central and regional party-state and public organizations to the disabled of the Great Patriotic War and their family members in Dagestan on the basis of diverse materials. During the war period, the number of disabled people increased significantly, the transformation of the social security and rehabilitation system of Soviet soldiers and officers who temporarily or completely lost their ability to work due to severe injury, contusion or injury. The article analyzes the actions undertaken by the authorities and society to improve the material and living conditions of disabled veterans, as well as measures of social support and employment for them. The employment of disabled people solved two tasks at the same time – it allowed creating a personnel reserve for various sectors of the national economy, and ensuring their social protection after returning to peaceful life. According to the author, assistance to war invalids and their family members during the Great Patriotic War was a demonstration of concern on the part of the state and society for this socially unprotected group of the population.
