Abstract

The formation of the festive traditions of the Soviet military school began shortly after the October Revolution, when during the Civil War the «red cadets» took an active part in state anniversaries and celebrations. Occurred in the early 1920s. Popularization of special military education, an increase in the number of students and the emergence of new holidays, contributed to the development of cultural and entertainment activities of cadets and the development by the Revolutionary Military Council, the Political Directorate of the Red Army, the Council of People’s Commissars of the USSR, an appropriate legislative framework in the army. In the article, based on documents from the central Russian archives, most of which are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, as well as materials from the party periodical press, the festive life of cadets of the Leningrad Military Engineering School is analyzed in a historical and cultural context.
