Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of historical factors of changing the national-state status of the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria within the Russian state. Issues related to the secession of Kabarda and Balkaria from the Mountain Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and the unification of Kabarda and Balkaria within the framework of a common autonomy are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the formation of the national will of the Kabardian and Balkar peoples and their free will, which resulted in the formation of the Kabardino-Balkarian Autonomous Region.
