Abstract

The mechanism of spontaneous ignition is so diverse and it is not easy to identify it due to the nature of spontaneous combustion, which finally ignites due to the accumulation of heat over a long period of time. In addition, it is not difficult to determine the correlation between spontaneous ignition and fire due to the low frequency of occurrence and lack of prior research. Therefore, in this study, in the process of investigating the fire incident in Gangdong, Seoul on February 3, 2017, oils and fats (vegetable oils: sesame oil, cooking oil, etc.) Focusing on the possibility, this study aims to investigate the mechanism of heat accumulation and spontaneous ignition of laundry through reproduction experiments of various conditions. Although some time has elapsed, there are no papers related to this study so far, so it has been proven through several reproduction experiments that oils and fats (soybean oil) with an elevated temperature can sufficiently spontaneously ignite if heat is accumulated under an appropriate density. It will be said that the value of this study is not small. In addition, it is expected that the results based on this study can be used internally as data for improving the scientific technique of fire detection, and externally as basic data and publicity data for fire prevention measures and firefighting policies.
