Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify the composition of the vocabulary denoting details of the riding-horse harness in the Khakass language. The study is novel in that it is the first in Khakass linguistics to carry out a systematic analysis of the specified vocabulary. As a result of the study, the main word-formation models of the vocabulary have been identified. The etymological analysis of the names of details of the riding harness has shown that the basis of simple names are words of Turkic origin. The fact that there are many names of this small element of material culture indicates its importance in the economic and household activities of the Khakass people associated with the nomadic lifestyle.
