Abstract

This paper is an analysis of song lyrics related with Minamotono Yoshitsune, the most frequently appeared in Shoka by the Ministry of Education according to national ideology in Meiji period. Through this, I look at the characteristics of the image and acceptance of Yoshitsune in modern Japan, and also reveal how Yoshitsune's representation played a role and role in modern Japan and the Japanese. It has been shown that school is being used as a device to draw the people into the national system, and shoka is a propaganda tool in Modern Japan. And through the 'Collective Memory' of Yoshitsune narrative, which has been enjoyed for a long time, the desire of the modern state was projected and a progressive boy image was injected by Yoshitsune Shoka. It was also inspired images of brave Japanese samurai and expresses the ideology of the loyal and patriotism to Japan. The Yoshitsune Shoka education also served to instill blind military patriotism that did not back down in combat, emphasizing the attitude of the imperialistic people to the colonial children of the Japan Empried period. One of the characteristics of Yoshitsune's acceptance method in modern literary brothels was that the cultural memory of Yoshitsune, which was embedded through literary works, traditional entertainment, and painting, was transformed into a public memory through textbooks learned at school. Furthermore, it is an important tool for the formation of an integrated ideology in order to promote the morale boost of the Japanese, cultivate patriotism, and in advance, the sense of community and ties between Japan and Japanese.
