Abstract

In the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) the institute of regional political leadership, represented by the post of head of the region, undergoing evolutionary changes has emerged at the present stage. The pa-per is devoted to the analysis of these changes in the activities of such political leaders as M.E. Niko-laev, V.A. Shtyrov, E.A. Borisov, A.S. Nikolaev. Politi-cal analytics of the federal and republican levels, media publications, and electoral statistics are used as research material. An attempt to compare leaders by various status parameters, and also to highlight a number of characteristic features of the Yakut re-gional leaders as a whole is made. In addition, is-sues of tribalism and the typology of territorial polit-ical leadership are examined. The authors come to the conclusion about the decrease of public interest in the elections of the head of the region, and at the same time an increase of requirements of the re-gional political leader.
