Abstract

In the Russian regions experiencing long periods of low outside temperatures in winter, heating systems are of great importance. The existing heat supply systems are characterized by a significant level of depreciation and obsolescence, thus leading to considerable heat losses in the networks. Require high maintenance and repair costs, such systems become inefficient for an industrial company. In addition, the heat supply of production facilities is labour-intensive and expensive due to their large area and increased requirements for reliability, energy and cost-efficiency. In this regard, selection of a heaterthat would meet all the requirements is challenging. The use of infrared heating systems for heating industrial buildings have recently become particularly, providing uniform heating of premises and allowing economical use of energy resources. The paper examines the possibility of using infrared radiators for heating industrial premises in Siberia, as well as determines their pros and cons. Using an example of industrial premises situated in the climatic conditions of the city of Irkutsk, the authors conducted numerical studies of different types of infrared heaters. On the basis of the obtained results, the energy and economic efficiency of gas infrared emitters was confirmed.
