Abstract

The driving force of any civilizational society is the continuity of cultural and historical traditions in the context of world development. The civil society bases on the generation and dissemination of cultural values, and its institutions are designed to produce cultural capital and execute its functions. The present study aims to develop a new methodology for studying the functions of cultural capital with regard to the civil society institutions performance and taking into account the involvement of public groups in the implementation process. Cultural capital refers to a system of intellectual, spiritual and creative outcomes presented in the form of new knowledge, cultural values and traditions aimed at social well-being and at promoting the bonding of an independent, sovereign national state and civil society. The ultimate function of cultural capital is the reproduction of civil society institutions to maintain the ideological and social order. Citizens have their own systems of knowledge, experience, beliefs and values, which represent a certain level of cultural capital development, and institutions have their own institutional means to articulate social interests and relations between people, which depend on the humanitarian status and discursive practices. Because of the organic interaction between institutions and social groups in the civil society, cultural capital fully realizes its functions, enriching society with new knowledge and moral and spiritual values. The degree of solidarity and consolidation of civil society filled with cultural values is growing, as is the quality of life of its citizens. Using sociological and empirical methods, this study substantiates future directions for implementing the functions of cultural capital in the region as part of the system integrating both the civil society institutions and groups interested in the growth of cultural contribution.
