Abstract
A map of science in the field of mechanical engineering for the Omsk State Technical University is given in the work. Frontiers in the science and the innovation both in Russia and abroad are shown. Conclusions for the implementation of sustainable development in this science are made on the basis of formal analysis. The approach used is proposed for a formal assessment of the level of technology development not only for fields of science, but also for the analysis of the university as a whole, scientific groups and projects.
