Abstract

Objectives This study aimed to explore professional counselor teachers' perceptions of children's rights and abuse.
 Methods A methodological framework was constructed by utilizing the Consensual Qualitative Research, which is said to be suitable for in-depth analysis with participants who have experienced a specific phenomenon accord-ing to the purpose of this study. Interviews were conducted with 7 professional counselor teachers, and the re-sults were analyzed by 3 researchers.
 Results As a result of the analysis, 5 domains, 10 categories, and 31 subcategories were derived, and the main research results are as follows. First, the rights perceived by professional counselor teachers as most important were survival, protection, and developmental rights. Second, the types of child abuse that professional counselor teachers most frequently encountered were emotional abuse, physical abuse, and neglect, in that order. Third, when professional counselor teachers confronted violations of child rights and instances of abuse, their strategies involved securing statements and collecting evidence to decide on whether to report, along with continuous counseling, reporting to administrators, abuse personnel, and homeroom teachers, and conducting meetings. Fourth, the factors influencing the response of professional counselor teachers to violations of child rights and in-stances of abuse were categorized into occupational factors and factors influencing reporting. Fifth, the support measures for effective intervention in cases of child rights violations and abuse were divided into social efforts, including education for parents and teachers, and individual efforts, such as identifying and managing cases of vi-olation and abuse of children's rights.
 Conclusions The conclusions so far are significant in that we have taken an in-depth look at the experiences of professional counselor teachers in the cases of child rights violations and abuse at school. It is expected to serve as basic data for establishing a support system for effective intervention in the event of child rights violations and child abuse cases at school sites in the future.
