Abstract

This study attempted to investigate the influence of social/personal self-esteem and grit on life satisfaction in college students majoring in cosmetology. For this, a mobile questionnaire survey was performed against college students from beauty-related departments in Gyeongsangnam-do and Jeollanam-do. A total of 203 copies were analyzed, using SPSS 25.0, and the results found the followings: In terms of influence on life satisfaction, personal self-esteem (β=.255, p=.002) and grit (β=.310, p<.001) revealed a positive effect with statistical significance. Specifically, the latter showed a greater influence. In social self-esteem (β=.168, p=.066), however, no statistical significance was found. The explanatory power of these variables was 42.1%. To enhance the life satisfaction of college students majoring cosmetology, therefore, it is critical to increase grit and then reinforce personal self-esteem
