Abstract

The purpose of the work was to analyze the features of differential diagnosis of acquired angioedema of the face and periorbital region on the example of a clinical case. Material and methods. A 62-year-old patient with complaints of edema of the upper and lower eyelids, zygomatic region and cheeks, decreased vision of the left eye applied for a consultative appointment at the polyclinic. The patient underwent a comprehensive examination, on the basis of which Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia was diagnosed. Results. In the presented patient, ocular manifestations of the disease revealed such manifestations of the disease as macroglobulinemic retinopathy, persistent angioedema of the paraorbital region and soft tissues of the face. Conclusion. Non-inflammatory edema of the eyelids is a manifestation of both ophthalmological and systemic pathology, which creates the need for a thorough differential diagnosis and requires an interdisciplinary approach to identify the cause of the disease. Keywords: Waldenstrom's macroglobulinemia, angioedema.
