Abstract

The article reveals the content of the notion “discourse” from the standpoint of the integrated approach in the contemporary humanities, in particular, in linguistics. The analysis of various definitions of this phenomenon makes it possible to identify its specific characteristics, the determination of which is conditioned by the need to elaborate the functional significance of discourse in the context of various types of communicative interaction in the society. Particular attention is paid to the derivation of the discourse theory from the position of ontology of discourse and communicative theory, developed by E. V. Sidorov.
