Abstract
The article deals with the national-patriotic aspects of the creation of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic, the military-political issues of the period of the Directory on the basis of the analysis of the military capability experience in the Ukrainian People's Republic. The authors substantiate the conclusion that national military capability directly depends on the chosen concepts of state development and the course of the state in the sphere of internal and foreign policy
