Abstract

The spread of coronavirus infection has led to the breakdown of common social practices in the labor, educational and leisure spheres. Tourist practices of Russians under the influence of epidemiological, economic and other factors were forced to transform. The article attempts to understand the main trends of these changes. The empirical basis of the study is the results of surveys conducted by leading sociological centers (WCIOM, FOM, Levada Center, etc.) in the period from March to December 2020, as well as statistics provided by the Federal Tourism Agency. Among the main trends of transformation of the tourist practices of Russians in the period of a pandemic, it is possible to note a general reduction in their intensity, increasing social inequality and the expansion of the tourist exclusion group, the shift to domestic tourism and expansion of geography of tourist routes in the country, individualization instead of mass, generation a request for a health safety and eco-friendly travel. There are multidirectional trends in choosing closer and shorter trips, and at the same time – the spread of long-term practices in which tourism is combined with remote work. In general, this indicates a gradual blurring of the boundary between everyday life and leisure.
