Abstract
The article discusses the main approaches and stages of understanding food security at the global level, from Malthusian, in which the main task in this area is to provide the required amount of food products per capita, and the rate of growth of food production should not be lower than the rate of increase in the population growth rate, to the Rome Declaration on World Food Security as a situation in which all people at every point in time have physical and economic access to sufficient, quantitatively safe food needed to lead an active and healthy life. It was concluded that further study by the scientific and expert community of these problems, determining the directions of resolution and vectors of development of the key type of safety will allow overcoming the identified modern negative trends.
