Abstract

This study focuses on the situation that the rise of digital media has profoundly disrupted traditional media, and trie to review the necessity of the right to request for blocking new articles. The right to request for blocking of reading becomes a point of controversy due to coming into conflict with the right to know, to be forgotten, and freedom of speech on the threshold of the digital era. Digital media has led to an entirely new chapter such as increased news consumption, content, and diversified channels across multiple media platforms. Because of these features, it is acting as a source of spread of ‘fake news’, the potential for damage caused by press reports has increased over the years. In the digital media ecosystem, for the access to legal revision for act on press arbitration, the right to request for blocking of reading should be newly established and the press also should beset up the internal policy related to it. In addition, remedies for damage caused by press reports should be available at damages caused by press reports on a variety of platforms, and the digital age needs to be helped a great deal in growing civil society.
