Abstract

This study explored students’ experience in online fashion design studio classes and investigated factors affecting their perceived academic achievements. An online survey of college students majoring clothing/fashion who were enrolled in online fashion design studio classes was conducted. A total of 215 responses were included in the final data. Respondents rated the instructor’s comments and feedback and lecture clips as the most useful, followed by instructor demonstration and Q&As. Frequently mentioned areas to be improved in online fashion design studio class include course contents, instructor’s feedback, video quality, communication channel, online class system, and class management method. Multiple regression analyses revealed that students’ academic achievements of online fashion design studio class were significantly affected by students’ class engagement, perceived convenience, social presence, and online learning system.
