Abstract

We analyzed variables of center of pressure(COP) movement during each unipedal and bipedal stance. It was not studied yet that specific quantitative comparison of dominant feet for unipedal and bipedal stance. Healthy dextropedal adult men(n=20, age: 22.9±1.89) participated this study. COP variables of Each right foot from unipedal and bipedal stance was computed for comparison and correlation (interaction) analysis. COP variables consisted of maxima, minima, displacement, velocity, and distance. Significance level for statistics was set to .05. It was found that left and right foot during bipedal stance showed no significant difference in COP variables. Furthermore, it occurred greater perturbation at unipedal stance than bipedal stance that approx two times in mediolateral(ML) and approx 50% movement in anteroposterior(AP). More remarkably, distance of AP and ML increased along with displacement and velocity of AP in bipedal stance. And specific characteristics in which displacement and velocity are decreased along decreased sway of AP in unipedal stance were shown. Consequently, separate characteristics were shown over interactions of variables in COP oscillation from unipedal and bipedal stance.
