Abstract

The article considers approaches to the content of the concept of infrastructure development in rural areas. The definition of the concepts of "infrastructure", "development", and "rural area" is presented. It is found out that the concept of infrastructure is based on such characteristics as a set of elements that create conditions for the effective functioning of business entities; a set of economic activities in a certain territory; a set of industries, sub-sectors and institutions that create favourable conditions for the social and economic development of the territory. The concept of development is the process of accumulation of qualitative and quantitative changes in a certain territory and the dynamism of such changes. Rural territory as an economic category is a spatial land integrity with appropriate resource provision; a spatial formation consisting of settlements, complexes, infrastructure, land, etc. that perform a number of functions and are located outside the city; a balanced system that contains a set of elements, subsystems that interact with each other. The article presents the author's vision of the definition of infrastructure development of rural areas as a set of infrastructure institutions, the functioning of which allows ensuring qualitative and quantitative changes in economic phenomena and processes in the spatial social and economic system, which is formed on the territory outside the city. Features of infrastructure support for rural areas are given.
