Abstract
The article considers stylistic peculiarities of onomatopoetic words functioning in the Russian children’s prose. From the theoretical viewpoint, the authors examine specificity of onomatopoeic words as a component of the language sound-descriptive system, reveal genetic relations of onomatopoetic words used in fiction and onomatopoeia in the Russian folklore. The analysis has revealed a complex of stylistic devices for introducing onomatopoeic words into works of children’s fiction. It is concluded that the described devices play an important role in creating anthropomorphic images of animals, enhance expression of the text, its sound expressiveness.
