Abstract

Contemporary scientific community declares interdisciplinarity to be one of its primary goals. Within individual scholarly disciplines (in particular political science) researchers welcome a combination of different methodological approaches within a mixed methods framework. How productive are, however, interdisciplinary studies in reality? Are they able to achieve scientific progress? This paper offers a critical evaluation of perspectives of interdisciplinary research and mixed methods, identifying conditions for their success.
