Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze domestic media reports related to child safety accidents using Bigkinds.
 Methods To this end, 25,821 media reports reported from January 1, 1990 to December 15, 2022 were extracted and analyzed using child safety accidents as a key search term in Bigkinds, a news analysis system based on big data technology.
 Results As a result, the number of media reports on child safety accidents has continued to increase since 1990 and decreased after peaking in 2018, and media reports related to child safety accidents tend to increase rapidly from May to August of the year. In addition, word cloud analysis found that keywords such as outdoor activities and traffic accidents were frequently mentioned in relation to child safety accidents, and as a result of the relationship analysis, “Korea Consumer Agency” formed a network with keywords such as “OECD” and “Fair Trade Commission.”
 Conclusions The results of this study can be used as basic data to comprehensively understand the trend of media reports related to child safety accidents and to prepare countermeasures to reduce child safety accidents.
