Abstract

In the Standard Korean Language Dictionary(1999) of the National Institute of the Korean Language, superscript ▽ marks are added for ‘exceptional’ Sino-Korean Pronunciations that are different from the literary reading system of modern Sino-Korean pronunciations. Since the reasons for the generation of ‘exceptional’ Sino-Korean pronunciations are diverse, it is essential to analyze the causes in detail in order to accurately understand the characteristics of Sino-Korean pronunciations. In this paper, among the cases of ∇-marked Sino-Korean pronunciations, cases that reflect relatively late phonological strata compared to the current literary reading system were examined.
