Abstract

The world experience of implementing the principle of autonomy in the chronology of the development of university education is presented. Scientific approaches are based on the “idea of the university”, which combines the entire knowledge and ideas about its development: purpose, tasks, principles, structure, functions, internal and external relations, place and role in society. The research was carried out in the context of the processes of decentralization of education management in Ukraine and activation of the implementation of autonomy in Ukrainian institutions of higher education.
