Abstract

This article examines the development of the sociocultural phenomenon of “cancel culture” and its impact on the spheres of activity of modern society. In the XXI century, new social trends are increasingly emerging, which are followed by various groups of individuals. Such is also the cancel culture, a phenomenon characterized by the social responsibility of media persons for verbal actions that are not approved by society. Observing it and forecasting its development is essential, as society demonstrates an increasing tendency to change; according-ly, in order to effectively manage public opinion, it is important to prepare tools for prompt response to outbursts of negativism that threaten the stability of society. The article considers the phenomenon of the cancel culture as a global phenomenon, widespread in Russia as well. It is emphasized that its representation in specific so-cio-cultural and historical conditions is characterized by uniqueness and allows talking about several trends of potential development.
