Abstract
DEMON (detection of envelope modulation on noise) processing algorithm is commonly used to detect an existence of modulated noise sources in a naval ship. However, this scheme has a limitation that it is hard to classify the specific modulated noise from a set of mixed signal. Therefore, this paper shows recent improvements in terms of the classification of modulated noise sources by using cyclo-stationary analysis and a time delay between hydrophones. Then, we verified that the suggested scheme is more suitable for classifying modulated noise sources than conventional DEMON algorithm using sea trials.
