Abstract

Purpose: Shindenzukuri is one of the prototypes of Japanese residential architecture, a style of aristocratic houses of the Heian period. Its importance is emphasized in various aspects such as connection with Buddhist temples influenced by China and the imperial residence, Dairi affected by Tang Dynasty, reflection of Japanese culture that advocated breaking away from Chinese culture at the time, and relation with Shoinzukuri which is the prototype of Japanese architecture today.
