Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze Spanish youth rental housing cases, which have grasped and solved problems in youth housing environments and to find suggestions in Japan. This analysis is based on the results of the analysis of typical areas such as Barcelona and Madrid since 2007 when the Spanish government implemented youth housing policies. Spanish VPOs (public shelters) have developed detailed policies to strengthen the foundation of the VPO from the government to local governments. For example, the government and the private sector have established policy foundations for active cooperation, measures to buy public land and buildings to increase the review of the VPO, and future use. Analysis results in each case are arranged in order of regional characteristics and aroma, arrangement plan for securing a shared space, plan of each unit household and residential building, plan of admission face using showy colors and shapes, and finally features of space constitution. As a result, Spain plans not only on a policy basis, but also on local characteristics and circumstances, suggesting a variety of possibilities in youth rental housing in comparison with design diversity, regional revitalization, and access at the housing complex level.
