Abstract

The article examines the expressive potential of elliptical interrogative sentences by the material of the English language. Originality of the study lies in the fact that expressiveness of a certain communicative type of a sentence has not been previously investigated. The paper examines both common and specific means of expressiveness of elliptical interrogative constructions. The author shows that an interrogative form with zero positions is a structural expressive model, which can be supplemented with expressive lexical units.
