Abstract

In modern culture sports and art are among the main spheres of human life. Traditionally sports and art are presented as mutually exclusive sociocultural phenomena. In recent decades the situation has changed: the transformation of sports into a global phenomenon requires a scientific study of mutual influence of sports and politics, sports and economics, sports and international cooperation. Within the framework of this study, the question of relations between sports and art seems to be relevant. The article makes an attempt not only to consider the problem of interaction of two cultural phenomena: sport and art, but through the analysis of sports ballroom dance to raise the question of the existence of a certain «set» of visual and expressive means that allow considering dance sport not only as a sport, but also as an artistic one, a work of art with a certain aesthetic value and expressiveness. It is concluded, that dance sport, perhaps, more then any other technical and aesthetic sport is closed to art. Aesthetic expressiveness is inherent in all sports, but it manifests itself and functions in different ways. As for dance sport, the authors are convinced that the synthesis of sport and art in this sport has taken place. The development of dance sport will take place not by increasing the physical capabilities the level of technical skill, but by increasing the expressive capabilities of human corporeality, where is no limit. The multifaceted world, which passes through the prism of human perception and imagination, is transformed into the content of the dance image and is its choreographic reflection. Sports ballroom dance is a modern work of art, manifested through the dancer's mastery of his own body and the ability to convey all the accumulated experience to captivate the viewer and draw him into the world of beauty.
