Abstract

Two parts of numerical work are included in the present paper. The first part is about a numerical study on shock tube by changing the diameter ratio of low-pressure part, i.e. driven part, to high-pressure part, i.e. driver part. Five cases are considered where the diameter ratios of driven part to driver part are 40%, 50%, 60%, 80%, and 100%, respectively. In the 100% ratio case, diameters of driven part and driver part are the same at 66.9 mm. And, this value is determined by the size of the shock tube which was designed. As the diameter ratio changes, five cases are analyzed numerically. The second part shows the comparison of test time with ignition delay time. The test time is calculated numerically with the 100% ratio case. And, the ignition delay time is from the literatures. Test time is shown to be longer than ignition delay time.
