Abstract

The objective of the article is to analyse the role of foreign-language loanwords in the formation of students’ background knowledge on the basis of the acquisition of the English-language lexical units in everyday communication. In the course of the study, the authors rely on a linguistic experiment results, which allow determining the identification strategies and degree of assimilation of the English loanwords as stimulus words. The authors trace the transition from the intuitive nature of loanwords use to the cognitive level of their acquisition in speech activity implementation in both native and foreign language.
