Abstract

The purpose of the article is to analyze the regulatory framework for the design of interior decoration products. The list of products, their general characteristics, the parameters that can be regulated are selected. The peculiarities of individual elements of the interior are considered, the inappropriateness of the formal approach in standardizing design is emphasized. The study is based on a comparison of norms defined by state documents, their composition and content, features of the regulation, limits of application have been elaborated. A significant part of these documents has the status of interstate norms. The need for further harmonization of all regulations with European standards in the field of design and ergonomics was emphasized. As a result, it was established that the main regulatory documents in the specified field of activity are the State Standards of Ukraine (DSTU), which mostly duplicate Soviet-era GOSTs. They relate to the definition of basic terms, typology of products, their standard sizes, characteristics of materials, design features. They need revision, as new materials and technologies are constantly appearing, innovative constructive solutions are being developed, in addition, the typology of products and the terminological base may be expanded. Regarding European standards, in particular ISO, they emphasize the safety of production and operation, the ecological component in the design of subject design objects for interior decoration. These regulations take into account the trends of sustainable development and should become the basis for further developments in the field of state regulations. Nevertheless, the key issue remains the coordination of the boundaries of creativity and standardization in design products, this requires detailed consideration and the formation of a modern regulatory framework for each group of products used in interior decoration.
