Abstract
The purpose of the study is to identify the personality traits and creative appearance of the famous Khakass writer and journalist Nikolai (Karkey) Trofimovich Nerbyshev using the materials of the writer’s unpublished journal. The paper describes the content of the journal, which recorded the events that took place in the writer’s life from 1976 to 1984. Scientific novelty lies in introducing into scientific use Karkey Nerbyshev’s journal, stored in the manuscript collection of the Khakass Research Institute for Language, Literature, and History in folder No. 2245, as a most valuable source of research on his personality. As a result, it has been proved that Karkey Nerbyshev’s journal is an important material not only for obtaining new information about the writer’s life and creative work but also for studying his personal qualities, value system, views, as well as his assessment of the creative work of 1980s Khakass writers.
