Abstract

The article focuses research attention on the attitude to a public institution as an object of sociological analysis and its significance for clarifying the characteristics of citizens' opinions about various spheres of life in their environment. The author emphasizes the dual function of research in determining the actual problems of so-ciety and formation of goal-setting based on the assessment of the situation in society, as well as in choosing the optimal means of influencing it. The nature of public opinion is considered as a marker of the state of the social sphere and the possibilities of its transformation if necessary. It is emphasized that the perceptions about a particular public institution, fixed in the minds of citizens, determine the specifics of its functioning in society, the success of its implementation of the tasks of its mission. According to the conclusion, the study of public opinion in this direction will allow developing a strategy to correct the situation if necessary.
