Abstract
The following article describes work of the L.S. Lebedyanskyi in the projecting of the first gas turbine locomotives in the former Soviet Union. It reviews the main stages of building of the locomotives with the gas turbine engines and compares their technical characteristics with the ones of the diesel locomotives. In addition, the article reviews the relevance of the nowadays usage of the gas turbine locomotives and their advantages in comparison with modern diesel locomotives.

Також в статті розглядається актуальність використання газотурбовозів у наші часи та їхні переваги над сучасними локомотивами з дизельними установками. Фірма «Дженерал Електрік» отримала фінальне замовлення на 30 газотурбовозів (нумерація від 1 до 30), що мали потужність 6250 кВт (8500 кінські сили) [5]. Професор Уваров допоміг втілити ідеї конструктора Лебедянського щодо обладнання експериментальних цехів та лабораторій з дослідження газотурбінних установок та їхніх елементів, а також перекваліфікації молодих кадрів заводу [4].
