Abstract

Theoretical issues of terminological actualization of technical knowledge, status and functional amplitude of technical terms are investigated. The evolutionary significance of technical terminological semiosis is noted: the emergence of more and more classes of technical terms contributes to the replenishment of the terminology fund of the national language and the language of science as a whole. The process of terminological actualization is determined, which is a cognitive-derivational activity to create a term; the plurality of interpretation of the concept "term" as a means of verbalizing technical knowledge is considered. The term "cluster" is introduced and substantiated as the nomination of the mega-complex of modern technical sciences; shows its substantive efficiency in comparison with the term "subject area".
