Abstract
The article examines linguistic peculiarities of the news discourse by the material of the modern English-language news reports. The paper aims to reveal the semiotic potential of the linguistic resources participating in the creation of news values. The conducted research shows that the event image can be constructed discursively: the message arrangement, sequence of the material presentation, lexico-morphological and syntactic text features, and stylistic devices can emphasize news values of the presented information.
