Abstract

Sino-Russian cultural cooperation is an integral part of development of the Sino-Russian bilateral relations, which together with the political mutual trust, economic and trade cooperation constitute the three pillars of Sino-Russian relations. Over the past 30 years, China and Russia have made remarkable achievements in exchanges and cooperation in the field of humanities exchanges. In particular, after China's «Belt and Road» initiative was put forward, new breakthroughs have been made in the areas of bilateral humanities cooperation and in the regions participating in cooperation. They are playing an increasingly important role in promoting mutual understanding between the two nations and consolidating China-Russia relations. At the same time, the unbalanced development of the region, the lack of close contact with economic and trade cooperation, the lack of innovation in individual fields, and the lack of systematization of relevant strategic research also restrict the in-depth development of Sino-Russian cultural cooperation. In 2019, China-Russia relations were upgraded to a «New Era comprehensive strategic partnership of Coordination». Humanities exchanges were listed as one of the five key areas of bilateral relations. Under the influence of the new global epidemic in 2020, the China-Russia cultural and humanities exchanges met new challenges, new opportunities and new missions. But there are broad prospects for cooperation.
