Abstract

This article is devoted to the consideration of verbal manipulation techniques in the English sports discourse. The paper presents the results of studying the syntactic means, with which the reader is influenced. As a research material the newspaper articles of the modern English editions are selected, which cover the current events in the world of sports. The authors emphasize that these techniques differ in the type of influence and intensity. In addition, it is concluded that various syntactic methods of linguistic influence are used in sports texts in their totality, complementing each other and other language means in order to achieve a communicative goal.
