Abstract
This article considers the issue of vocational guidance work in schools as a factor in increasing the level of self-determination of students. Professional self-determination of young people is one of the most important state goals of the educational system. The author presents the stages and tools of vocational guidance work within the framework of public projects. As the main directions of career guidance work in school can be defined: professional education, professional diagnostics, professional counseling. The author considers the directions that make career guidance work more productive.
