Abstract

The paper aims to identify peculiarities of the Tatar culture lexicographical representation in school dictionaries. The article examines specificity of compiling a full dictionary entry for a culturally marked word unknown to students. The study is conducted by the material of the Tatar-Russian-English school dictionary by A. A. Timerkhanov and S. F. Garifullin. Scientific originality of the research involves a comprehensive analysis of a dictionary entry. Special attention is paid to the means representing culturally marked information about a headword. The conducted research allows concluding that the dictionary entry for a culturally marked word contains descriptive translation or loan translation providing a required cultural commentary.
